Darwine

Darwine is a port of Wine to Mac OS 10 and Darwin. I have never used Darwine, but I have used Wine on Linux before. I have never used Darwine, but I have used Wine on Linux before. You can get several programs to work on Wine.

  • I highly recommend you don't use darwine since it was sort of the first try to port windows apps to a mac or linux. But there's a newer project called 'wine' without the dar in front. It works flawlessly on my MBP late 2011 and on my iMac 2011. Every single program I've tried, worked. The program I need the most is drumroll Steam ^^.
  • The Darwine project aims at offering users the possibility to run software developed for the Windows operating system on their Mac, without having to use a virtual machine. To make this possible, Darwine includes a port of the Wine app, and other supporting tools.

Darwin Machis

Darwine is the version of Wine for Mac, which is a free implementation of Windows API. It allows you to run on Linux and OS X programs that are made for Microsoft. The official Darwine packet doesn’t update on time so the members of kronenberg.org decided to take the intiative of publishing their own version.
You can look up the list of programs that are compatible with the original version of Wine by clicking here. You will find games such as Final Fantasy XI, Guild Wars, Half Life II, Command & Conquer 3, and Counter-Strike, and programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS2 and CS3, AutoCAD2008, Visual Studio .NET 2008, and 3D Studio MAX. That being said, not all of them work just as well.
