Question: Q: MacBook Pro Mid-2009 Install El Capitan I have a MacBook Pro Mid-2009, have been having performance issues and decided to do a factory reset. To get the latest features and maintain the security, stability, compatibility and performance of your Mac, it's important to keep your software up to date. Apple recommends that you always use the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac.

I did this 2 weeks ago with a 2011 MacBook Pro, but my 2007 MacBook Pro will run El Capitan, I rolled that back to Mavericks at the time, to give to someone, but as far as I am aware, Sierra is not a major upgrade like Mavericks, and this very latest one Catelina, these two are major structural changes, all other OSs are more like large updates. I have been trying for over an hour to download High Sierra to my mid-2009 MacBook Pro that is on El Capitan (10.11.6). There is enough space and I even ran CleanMyMac to, well, clean things up.
